Installation Notes
Please review the following before installation:
- Accessory drive kit is not included.
- The LS376/525 shares the same external dimensions and mounting points as other LS-series engines.
- Intended for pre-1976 street vehicles or dedicated off-road applications.
- The 6L80-E transmission requires DEXRON VI automatic transmission fluid.
- Transmission dipstick is not included.
- The supplied engine controller is specifically calibrated for retrofit applications and disables unnecessary production vehicle functions that could otherwise trigger diagnostic trouble codes.
- The engine is supplied with a mid wet-sump oil pan that fits:
- 2010–2015 Camaro SS and ZL1
- 2012–2017 Caprice PPV
- 2014–2017 Chevrolet SS
- 2008–2009 Pontiac G8
Important: The installed oil pan is not compatible with traditional muscle car LS engine swaps. An appropriate swap oil pan must be installed before fitting the engine into most classic muscle cars.
Recommended Engine Break-In Procedure
Proper break-in is essential for maximizing engine performance and longevity.
- Fill the engine with oil meeting GM dexos1 specifications. For racing or track use, Mobil 1 15W-50 is recommended.
- Prime the oiling system and verify all fluids—including coolant and power steering fluid—are filled to the proper levels.
- Start the engine and listen carefully for any abnormal noises. If everything sounds normal, maintain approximately 1,000 RPM until the engine reaches operating temperature.
- During the first 30 miles (or approximately one hour), drive under varying engine loads while avoiding full-throttle acceleration and sustained high RPM operation.
- Perform five or six moderate-throttle accelerations (around 50% throttle) to approximately 4,000 RPM, allowing the engine to decelerate back to idle while remaining in gear.
- Follow with two or three full-throttle accelerations to approximately 4,000 RPM before returning to idle in gear.
- Replace the engine oil and filter after the initial break-in period, inspecting both for any unusual metal particles or debris.
- Continue driving normally for the next 500 miles (12–15 engine hours), avoiding prolonged high RPM and heavy engine loads.
- Perform a second oil and filter change after the 500-mile break-in period and inspect the used oil and filter to confirm normal engine operation.
